Democratic Youth Forum

Ganotantric Jubo Forum (Democratic Youth Forum)

Ganotantric Jobo Forum was founded by progressive Jumma youths on April 5, 2002. Initially it was named Pahari Jubo Forum. However, the second central council session of the organisation held on 13 May 2005 in Chittagong unanimously changed its name to Ganotantric Jubo Forum or Democratic Youth Forum.

The overriding aim of the organisation is to provide a common platform for all the Jumma youths and contribute to the struggle for the right to self-determination.

Ganotantric Jubo Forum successfully held its first conference in April 2003 in Khagrachari. More than five hundred youth delegates from across the Chittagong Hill Tracts as well as from Dhaka and Chittagong took part in it.

In a leaflet issued on the occasion of its 1st Founding anniversary the Ganotantric Jubo Forum declares: it will not tolerate the government or any quarter backed by it playing game with the destiny of the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. It sends stern warnings to those who are involved with anti social and anti national activities in order to maintain their personal and sectional interests, and calls upon those who have been seduced into such activities or got involved by sheer chances, to forsake their bad company and come back to normal social life.

The Forum has a number of branch committees across the Chittagong Hill Tracts as well as in Dhaka and Chittagong.
